The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is inviting applications for a Groundsman position under Greening and Livelihoods Implementation Support, advertised in DPSA Circular 39 of 2026.

• Qualification: Grade 9 or equivalent NQF Level 1

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have Grade 9 or an equivalent NQF Level 1 qualification. Previous work experience is not required.

Applicants should have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, be able to work independently or in a team, and have basic knowledge of forestry and occupational health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, lawns and outdoor areas.
• Water plants and irrigate gardens.
• Remove weeds and control unwanted vegetation.
• Prune and trim plants and trees.
• Mow lawns and remove organic waste.
• Prepare compost and maintain flower beds.
• Assist with planting and transplanting seedlings and trees.
• Support nursery and general grounds maintenance activities.
